Catherine Martelli

Ever since being introduced to Taiji 15 years ago at Community College Classes, I have appreciated the profound effect it has had on all aspects of my health and wellbeing.
In 2003 I transferred to the Taiji classes being established by the ACC on the North Shore where the instructors were from the Forest Rock Monastery School.
With total involvement in the programme I saw my health improve dramatically and I experienced a sense of true serenity and inner peace.

In 2006 the opportunity arose to create the Shi Ba Shi class as many of the members had attended for a number of years and no longer qualified for the ACC subsidised Taiji classes..
These classes are largely based on the Yang style Taiji Form and the 18 posture Qigong exercises (Shi ba Shi)
The movements are simple to achieve but profound in effect and each person is able to work at their own level.
Older people in particular notice greatly improved balance, breathing, and flexibility and I endeavour to let the classes reflect the philosophy and harmony inherent in the teachings of the Monastery School.

By attending Peter Caughey`s Classes at the School I seek to keep my own cup filled and remain humbly aware that we are all at the beginning of our Taiji journey.
It is truly enriching and life enhancing.
