The trust supports underprivileged children

One of the groups this Charitable Trust supports is called ‘Kids Can’.
This Trust supports the basic physical needs of financially disadvantage children. The Official Patrons of the Trust are two All Blacks, Doug Howlett and Ali Williams.

This organization feeds and clothes children in dire financial hardship in New Zealand.
‘Kids Can Charitable Trust’ is a national charity dedicated to levelling the playing field for New Zealand children living in poverty.

Each year it makes a tangible difference to more than sixteen thousand children through a number of different programs, including raincoats for kids, food for kids and shoes for kids.
  • ‘Kids Can’ provides more than eight thousand free raincoats to children from low income families.
  • The Kids can ‘food for kids’ programme provides free food at school for more than six thousand financially disadvantaged children a week.
  • ‘Shoes for kids’ is a programme that provides free quality footwear and socks for children who consistently come to school in winter without shoes and socks. So far, more than two thousand pairs of shoes have been given to children throughout New Zealand.

This is an innovative and creative group serving children that have a desperate need for help in New Zealand.

The trust sponsors starving and homeless children overseas

Forest Rock has been sponsoring children for over ten years through World Vision and The Child Fund. These two organisations support the under privileged children of the world. We currently support children in Uganda, Rwanda, Thailand and Argentina.

During our time of sponsorship for these children, there have been schools built, water tanks erected, live stock purchased and whole villages have become self sufficient.

In the present economic times, these children are in desperate circumstances and need our help more than ever.

Why these Groups

Part of the philosophy of the The Forest RockTaiji School is service to others. In this tradition the school  supported the elderly, as they carried the wisdom that comes with age, of a life time of experiences and learning. It also supports the current students, as they are the people who carry the teaching and philosophy of the school, and lastly the children, as they are seen as the legacy of the school's teachings in the future.
This is why the Forest Rock Monastery Trust supports these groups: It is about preserving the teachings, caring for each other and the supporting the Community.
