Week Long Retreats
Watch this space for next dates

Forest Rock Taiji and Qigong School has run retreats where the members of the school have lived like, how we would have imagined the monks did in the monastery hundreds of years ago.
The daily schedule started with: rising before the sunrise and meditating through to the start of the day, Performing Taiji and Qigong:to awaken the body and soul, preparing for the day, washing the body from the nights sleep, preparing and eating breakfast, and then after breakfast, studying philosophy to put the mind and heart in it’s rightful place.
During each day, the group studied Chinese calligraphy, music, art, and traditional Chinese medicine, with sessions of Tuina, Qigong healing and reflexology. There were cooking and food preparation lessons, with the meals eaten in silence; in reverence to the food and the earth it came from. The days were spent in relative silence and stillness, remaining connected to oneself and the group. Before sleeping, Qigong exercises were performed to shut down the mind and body, followed by meditation to contemplate the day, and then retiring to rest when the sun went down.
The vision of the school is to conduct week long retreats, to live this way, and to give people a glimpse of how the monks may have lived in the monastery many years ago: A simple, productive, harmonious, informative and rewarding lifestyle.
